About the Area
Sandgate is located in the northern part of Brisbane, just a 30 minute drive from Brisbane’s CBD and 20 minutes from the airport. Sandgate offers something for everyone. There are plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and fish and chip shops thoughout the suburb many of them with bay views. If you like to have a picnic there are many fantastic spots along the waterfront, with plenty of shady trees, bbq areas and playgrounds for the kids. For those that like to walk, jog or cycle there are bikeways that take you along the waterfront right up to the Shorncliffe through Deagon and on to the Boondall Wetlands. With Moreton Bay on hand it provides the opportunity for kite surfing, fishing, sailing and yacht racing. From time to time Dolphins and Sea Turtles can be seen from Shornliffe and Cabbage Tree Creek. Sandgate is an older area with only a few unit and townhouse complexes. There are many primary and high schools both private and public to choose from as well as the Northpoint TAFE close by at Bracken Ridge. With new businesses and a new shopping complex underway, Sandgate has become a popular place to live.
